Time Flies When You're Having Rum

Join us for the next installment in our Six Spirits series as we dive into the history of rum, the cocktails it enabled and, of course, give you the chance to stir and shake up some drinks of your own. You'll learn how to make three rum-based cocktails (and their variations) and enjoy some tasty nibbles as well.  

Rum is finally having its day in New Zealand. Rum bars are springing up, distillers are trying their hand at the spirit, and importers are offering us options from all over the world, aged anywhere from not at all to thirty years or more. White or gold, dark or spiced, it is now produced in over 80 countries worldwide. Rum has a delicious, fascinating and often very troubled history. It was the companion of navies and pirates; it was the currency of gangsters, slave traders, and rebels; and it was the foundation of some of the earliest cocktails as well as the cocktail renaissance that was the post-WWII tiki culture in the U.S. and Europe.
